Stand-up for a Cause, is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that provides, promotes, organizes, manages and administers recreational, educational and physically challenging lessons, courses, tours, classes and events, for the benefit of those who are disadvantaged, disabled, or in need of assistance. Program activities will promote health and individual achievement, build confidence, strengthen the mind, body and spirit, educate the community and foster a clean environment. Mr. St-Cyr has been promoting the wellness and welfare of others since his youth. His career in sales, real estate and paddle sports has led him to his ultimate goal – to bring awareness and resources to others in need. He accomplishes this mission through Stand-Up For A Cause.
With over 20 years experience in teaching children and adults, Mario St-Cyr has managed and operated the first official Stand-up Paddleboarding concession in the City of Fort Lauderdale as a registered City partner. Mr. St-Cyr continues to commit his time, energy and funding towards causes that are important to the community and which promote good health, exercise, education and ecological issues. He is responsible for the daily operations of the organization, including, event planning and coordination, in addition to offering lessons, tours and other program activities to individuals and groups, as well as other normal operating duties.
Pets were Spotted Training for the October 26th Stand-Up For The Pets Charity Event.
First time stand-up paddlers were out last week getting Free paddle boarding lessons and learning the basics on water safety and proper paddling techniques, as well as a bunch of pet paddlers practicing for the upcoming Oct. 26th Stand-Up For The Pets event.
“Sir Winston” was there to get in shape and to see if his new girth would pose any problems on the paddle board. He did fine – just like the other paddle board pets.

Teachers “Do walk on water” and on October 26th, Dr. Darko, Christine Murphy and Catherine Uden will donate their time, talent and expertise to Broward county residents and their pets.
Dr. Darko, his staff and rescue organizations from the Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac will be available at the event to educate the public and to answer questions and concerns of broward county residents. The Stand-Up For The Pets event will be held on the Middle River at George English Park. The day will begin with paddle board classes and clinics, with tips and demonstrations from Florida’s top paddle board professionals. Paddlers can then join the pack for a 90 minute float down the Middle River, with pet owners, their pets, and all other paddling enthusiasts. This 2.6 mile scenic course will guide paddlers through the canals of Ft. Lauderdale to discover the local ecosystem, and the many beautiful homes along the waterway. Paddlers Unite; come out to raise funds and have fun.
Proceeds of the Stand-Up for the Pets event will be used to cover the direct medical costs of spaying, neutering and inoculating animals in Broward County that are in need of treatment.
Teacher, triathlete and certified Personal Trainer Christine Murphy brings her love for dance and outdoor sports with her experience in movement, balance, and conditioning principles. She will demonstrate how to yoga on a paddle board, and give a full class of stretching, exercises and yoga poses that participants can practice from their paddle boards in the calm cove at George English Park.
First grade School teacher at Stirling Elementary and Top ranking Stand-up paddle board racer Catherine Uden will give a clinic on race training, advanced paddle boarding techniques and teach aspiring paddle board racers the skills and strategies used by the pros.
